Encova Insurance selected as a 2021 Guidewire innovation award winner

On Wednesday, Nov. 3, Encova Insurance accepted the 2021 Guidewire Innovation Award. This is the second time Encova has received the award, following our previous acceptance in 2018 for our commercial lines solution, Motorists Insurance. This year’s award honors those who have demonstrated an exceptional ability to innovatively adapt to the pace of industry change and evolving customer needs. Following in the footsteps of our award-winning commercial lines solution, Encova’s reinvented personal lines offerings bring market-leading personal lines solutions to you, our independent agents, and an improved, digital-first customer experience for our policyholders.

“The company was at a crossroads in terms of either needing to invest in personal lines – and by ‘invest’ I mean everything: products, pricing, technology platform – or, make a decision to exit the personal lines business,” Matt Wilcox, executive vice president, Personal Lines, said. “Ultimately, we decided to stay true to our personal lines roots and completely reinvent our personal lines operations. That meant a completely new product set, new pricing models and new processes, all on the foundation of a state-of-the-art platform like Guidewire,” Wilcox said.

Since the start of our personal lines transformation in 2020, we have launched in eight states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin. While the program is still relatively new, early indications show its success and point to a prosperous future. Through first quarter 2021, year-over-year new business policy counts increased 32%, 168% in second quarter and 228% in the third quarter. Since launching our brand-new personal lines solution, agents have written nearly $10 million in direct written premium.
