BrickStreet promotes safety, alleviates costs through pharmaceutical monitoring

As part of BrickStreet’s 360° approach to every policy, our in-house Office of Medical Management is committed to equipping your agency with best-in-class services for your customers.

Our Office of Medical Management ensures injured workers receive safe, effective, hassle-free, timely and appropriate medical care to safely get back to work. Our 360° teams work with in-house physicians to ensure injured workers get the treatment they need while still controlling costs.

Our medical director supervises a staff of contracted physicians who conduct immediate reviews of requested procedures, medicines and other treatments. Technical coordinators in the Office of Medical Management are continuously monitoring issues such as chronic opioid usage, adverse combination drugs, multiple narcotic prescribers, multiple narcotic-filling pharmacies and high dosages. This has led to a significant decrease in the percentage of claimants using opioids: from 47 percent in 2015 to 39 percent in 2017.

At BrickStreet, the team approach is part of everything we do, and that team includes you. BrickStreet policyholders’ average spend per injured worker is 60 percent less than all other companies in our pharmacy benefit manager’s book of business, and pharmaceutical spend is less than 5 percent of total medical spend companywide – the carrier average is 17-18 percent. Talk to your policyholders about how BrickStreet’s Office of Medical Management can help them contain costs and keep their employees safe.
